Albert Carl Ebel, 80 of Horton, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas. Al was born on April 12, 1933 in Falls City, Nebraska the son of Amos and Mary Castan Ebel. After graduating from high school and two years of college he served with the U.S. Army. Al had lived in Reserve, Kansas on a farm where he helped his father before becoming a salesman for an air purifier company and traveled a lot with his job. He then became a carpet layer and worked in security. Al enjoyed fishing, playing pool and listening to big band music. On May 12, 1998 he married Dorothy Morgan in Falls City, Nebraska. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Allan (Missy) Ebel of Quincey, Illinois; daughter, Linda (Jerry) Rice of Hannibal, Missouri; two stepsons, Billy Teppert of Powell, Wyoming and Troy Teppert of Kingston, Oklahoma; step daughter, Annette Van Epps of Horton, Kansas and numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren. Al's step-granddaughter Brandy and her spouse Kevin Meers of St. Joseph, Missouri helped care for him after his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marvin Dean Ebel. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Tri-County Manor or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the mortuary.
