Obituary

Albert Richard McDaniel, 86, of Everest, Kansas, formerly of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on October 31, 1922, near Effingham, Kansas, the son of Sylvester E. & Dora Buddenbohm McDaniel. He graduated from ACCHS in Effingham in 1941 and entered the U.S. Armed Services in December 1942, serving in the First Cavalry Division, 7th Regiment during WW II. After serving in the military, Albert worked for the Atchison County Road and Bridge Department prior to going to work for Blish Mize in Atchison, Kansas as a truckdriver. After retiring he went to work as an associate at the Holton Walmart. He was a member of the Muscotah United Church, the Muscotah Half Century Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Horton, Kansas. Albert was an avid gardner and enjoyed woodworking. On December 9, 1942 he married Caroline Louise Henning in Nortonville, Kansas at the St. Matthews parsonage by Reverend George Kettner. They made their home in Muscotah until Albert's health failed a few years ago and moved to Everest, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Louise of the home; daughter, Cheryl Ann and husband Junior Ray of Montrose, Colorado; sister, Florine Ehret of Topeka, Kansas; three grandchildren; Sonya and husband Greg Stohs of Marysville, Kansas, Neil Ray of Montrose, Colorado and Kyle Ray of Marysville, Kansas; three great grandchildren, Broderick & Grace Stohs and Elijah Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents. Albert was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, loved reading God's Word and visiting with friends. He dearly loved his best friend, little Trixie.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Trinty Lutheran Church, Muscotah United Church or the Everest Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
