Obituary

Arline J. Lively, 85, of rural Whiting, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at her home. She was born on April 14, 1924 in Whiting, Kansas the daughter of David & Hulda Stuff Wenger. On October 1, 1943 she married John C. Lively in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2003. Arline helped her husband with the dairy on the family farm until they decided to sell the dairy and travel around the United States eventually settling in Winter Garden, Florida where she worked for a citrus plant for a few years. They then moved back to the Whiting, Kansas area and she began to work for the Golden Eagle Casino in the gift shop and as a hostess in the restaurant. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Patterson of Whiting, Kansas; foster son, Bruce Ent of Sanford, Florida; two brothers, Chester Wenger and Marvin Wenger both of Whiting, Kansas; sister, Mildred Bowser of Holton, Kansas; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Johnny Lively and a sister, Ruth Gordon.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
