Carol Lee Harms, 68, of Horton, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born on April 17, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Calvin & Kathryn Sheldon Owens. Carol was a cook for several restaurants in the Holton and Horton, Kansas area prior to going to work for the Tri-County Manor as a cook. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka, Kansas. On June 8, 1958 she married Melvin E. Harms in Netawaka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1989. Survivors include her daughter Debbie Harms & Rick Eastwood of Horton, Kansas; brother, Mark Bailey of Sandy, Utah; four grandchildren, Matthew Pilant, Amber Pilant, Kimberly Pilant and Kyle Pilant. Carol was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Curtis and Daymon Owens and a sister, Beverly Scheid. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka, Kansas with burial to follow at the Netawaka Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
