Charles H. Brown, 64, of Everest, Kansas, passed away on November 16, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 30, 1946 in Kemp, Texas the son of Billy Jack & Loretta Fuller Brown. Charles was a rancher for many years and then became a mechanic in Everest, Kansas where he owned and operated Everest Motor Company. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Charles loved spending time with his grandchildren, motorcycles and playing in the mud at his many Mud runs. On January 17, 1969 he married Velva Collins in Farley, Missouri. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Loretta Brown of Fort Towson, Oklahoma; son, Henry & wife Joy Brown of Everest, Kansas; three daughters, Glenda & husband William Caylor of Everest, Kansas, Jeri Lee of Maryville, Missouri and Loretta & husband James Barton of Horton, Kansas; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother, Billy Franklin of Snellville, Georgia; three sisters, Rose Rhoades of Fort Towson, Oklahoma, Ruby Nored of Hugo, Oklahoma and Rita Miller of Fort Towson, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, James. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery east of Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the NEK Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
