Obituary

Charley "Ki-Sa-Kwa" Switch, 76, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his home on the Kickapoo Reservation. He was born on May 7, 1934 in Horton, Kansas the son of Charles & Betsy Davila Masquat. Charley graduated from Powhattan High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He drove a cement truck for many years prior to becoming a school bus driver. Charley was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe where he served on the tribal council, Kennekuk Church and the Kickapoo American Legion. On May 21, 1955 he married Cynthia Williams in Atchison, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1999. Survivors include a son, Sonny Switch of Horton, Kansas, sister, Wanda Faulk of Kansas City, Kansas, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Otis and Harmon Blacksmith and a sister, Charlotte Blacksmith. Kennekuk Church services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Kennekuk Cemetery. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
