Clifford J. Volz, 91 of Horton, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1919 near Falls City, Nebraska the son of Ferd and Sophia Finck Volz Sr. Cliff was a self employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. On April 9, 1940 he married Angela Meyer in Mercier, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Terry Volz of Topeka, Kansas and a daughter, Marilyn Rottinghaus of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Ferd Volz Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; and a sister, Loretta Yates of Provo, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Earl, Leonard, Roy, Lloyd and Aloysius Volz and a sister, Anna Jane Russell.
A prayer service will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the prayer service. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton with burial in the church cemetery.
