Debra Louise Torrey, 50, of Everest, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 21, 1961 in Fairfax, Missouri the daughter of Raymond Dick and Helen Louise Peregrine. Debra graduated from A.C.C.H.S in Effingham, Kansas in 1979. Debra worked as a purchasing agent for Landoll Corporation in Marysville, Kansas before becoming the Group Home Manager in Seneca, Kansas. She then went back to work as a purchasing agent for Mac in Sabetha, Kansas and worked for Lentz Express in Horton, Kansas. She currently was working at the Miami Place in Hiawatha, Kansas as the Group Home Manager. On December 21, 1985 she married Robert Torrey in Everest, Kansas. After twenty one years of marriage they divorced. Debra was an avid K-State fan and dearly loved her dogs, Mattie and Katie. Survivors include two sisters, Vicky (Marvin) Ptomey of Everest, Kansas and Jeanette Gore of Meriden, Kansas; a brother Ricky (Becky) Dick of Wheatland, Iowa; a half sister, Linda Gizvold of Greenwood, Nebraska; a half brother, J.R. Scott of Eagle, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery east of Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Midland Hospice in care of the mortuary.
