Obituary

Donald Roy Allen, 70, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Horton Community Hospital. Donnie was born on March 30, 1940 on the Kickapoo Reservation the son of Ira & Ruby Simpson Allen. He worked for Rockwell in Atchison as a welder for over 35 years. Donnie was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Kickapoo Tribe, Drum Religion, Kickapoo American Legion Post #415 and loved horses, coyote hunting and truck mud runs. On December 24, 1965 he married Cecile Rose Wewenis. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Donella Allen of Horton, Kansas and Tammy Wahwassuck of Horton, Kansas; three sons, Skup Allen of Horton, Kansas, Joe Allen of Horton, Kansas and John Pewamo of Mayetta, Kansas; four brothers, Johnny Allen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Virgil Allen of Baldwin, Kansas, Raymond Allen of Winchester, Kansas and Keith Allen of Nortonville, Kansas; six sisters, Connie White of Eureka, Kansas, Bonnie Milroy of Winchester, Kansas, Edna Emmett of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carol Barnhart of Winchester, Kansas, Kay Snodgrass of Winchester, Kansas and Sheila Barnhart of Lawrence, Kansas; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Simpson. Drum services will be at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial will be at sunrise on Tuesday morning at the Wewenis Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. Online condolences may be sent to www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
