Donald Franklin Jacobs Sr., 75, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away today, March 19, 2009 at the Holton Family Health Center in Holton, Kansas. He was born on August 5, 1933 on the family farm near Mayetta, Kansas, the son of Clarence & Nora Marshall Jacobs. Don was a welder for many years in the Horton area retiring from Alamo in Holton, Kansas in 1995. He was a member of the Muscotah United Church, enjoyed repairing small engines, working at Donnie's farm and fishing. On June 16, 1957 he married Margaret Randall in Atchison, Kansas she survives of the home, other survivors include his mother, Nora Jacobs of Horton, Kansas; two sons, Don & wife Susie Jacobs Jr. of Muscotah, Kansas, Robert & wife Lori Jacobs of Holton, Kansas; raised as their daughters, Sharon Thompson of Meriden, Kansas and Rosemary & husband Robert Hobbs of Hiawatha, Kansas; two brothers, Dale Jacobs of Horton, Kansas and Floyd Jacobs of Muscotah, Kansas; three sisters, Etta Mae Matthias of Horton, Kansas, June Talbott of Mount Union, Iowa and Margaret Dodge of Everest, Kansas and six grandchildren, Brandon Jacobs, Rae Jacobs, Haley Jacobs, Bryan Thompson, Neil Thompson and Kelli Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Martha Butterfield. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Muscotah United Church in Muscotah, Kansas with burial to follow at the Muscotah Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
