Donald Mac "Sony" McKinney, 70, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1939 in Mayetta, Kansas the son of Henry & Anna Rhodd McKinney. Sony worked as an Electrician for many years in Phoenix, Arizona and Horton, Kansas. He was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe and Drum Religion. Survivors include two sisters, Itis Milton and Gwen Burns of Horton, Kansas; two brothers, Oran McKinney of Holt's Summit, Missouri and Dwight McKinney of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Beulah Euken, Adelia Gutierrez and Jeannette Bowsher and four brothers, Lowell, Lucian, Henry Jr. and T.J."Sandy" McKinney. Drum services will be at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial will be after dinner on Tuesday at the Kennekuk Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.
