Obituary

Donna Leah Knudson, 75, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on January 12, 2013 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. She was born October 9, 1937 in Brown County, Kansas, the daughter of Roy Virgil Hallauer and Mabel Fern Bohnenkemper Hallauer. Donna grew up in Horton, Kansas and was a 1955 graduate of Horton High School. She was married October 9, 1955 to Lee C. Knudson at the Zion Lutheran Church, Everest, Kansas. She is survived by her husband Lee and two children, Gregory Knudson of Everest and Lynda (Dennis) Ross, Horton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jodi (Ben) Leatherman, of Denton; Jennifer (Steven) Welch, of Everest; Kelsey (Patrick) Costello, of Wamego; and Mark (Tanna) Ross, of Lawrence. She is survived also by her great grandchildren Broc, Lena & Zek Leatherman; Adaylee Welch and Cayson Costello.

She is also survived by her brothers Arnel (Jan) Hallauer, of Ames, IA; Allen (Donna) Hallauer, of Horton; Gene (Brenda) Hallauer, of Manhattan, KS; Virgil (Anna Jo) Hallauer, of Robinson, KS and a sister June (Floyd) Schlodder, of Denison, KS; also a brother-in-law John E Knudson, of Everest and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and Brother-in-Law, Lois (Francis) Winterscheidt of Cushing, OK.

Donna was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Everest and served on various committees with the church, 4-H programs, and schools. She had many talents including refinishing and upholstering furniture and making quilts for family members, especially for "her babies." She enjoyed her life on the farm and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister & aunt. She always put her family first.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Everest, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
