Obituary

Edna Marie Davis Bradberry Sawyer, 81, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday morning December 24, 2011 at the Horton Community Hospital. Edna was born on February 22, 1930 in Portello, California. She was the next to the youngest of six children born to Clyde and Orilla Thomas Davis. She was raised in the Willis and Hiawatha, Kansas area. She graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1948. She married Keith Bradberry in 1948. They were married for 48 years. Edna and Keith spent several years in Iowa with Safeway Stores and moved back to Horton in 1963. Most of the remaining years were spent in the ministry. Edna was a member of the Horton First Baptist Church. Edna loved to quilt, fish and read. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Keith went to be with the Lord in 1996. In 2000 Edna married Eugene Sawyer of Holton, Kansas. They lived at the Arbor Knoll Homes in Horton, Kansas. Survivors include her husband, Eugene of the home; a son Douglas Keith Bradberry and wife Leona of Guthrie, Oklahoma; two daughters, Glenda Williams and husband Allan of Vermillion, Kansas and Cindy Thornton and husband Larry of Whiting, Kansas; five grandchildren, Scott Bradberry of Texas, Rebekah & Chet Savage of Murphysboro, Illinois, Joshua and Kelly Williams of Ozawkie, Kansas, Adam and Erin Thornton of Wamego, Kansas, Molly and Tom Williams of Belleville, Kansas. Ten great grandchildren, Trustin, Body, Emaree, Ashlee, Elly, Bailey, Kendall, Brady, Reece and Keith. One brother, Lee Davis of Arizona; three sisters, Emma Johnson of Oregon, Maxine Neel of Kansas City and Geraldine Moundy of Great Bend, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was blessed with several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and Gene's children, Jerry and Deb Sawyer of Colorado, Sherry and Allen Bowser, Gary and Janine Sawyer and Terri Morris all of Holton, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clyde Davis Jr., grandson, Troy Bradberry and a granddaughter, Tessa Nasalroad. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Horton First Baptist Church. With burial at the Springhill Cemetery at Whiting, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
