Eileen "Granny" Knudson, 83, of rural Horton, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born on November 19, 1925 on the family farm Southwest of Lancaster, Kansas the daughter of Otto & Hulda Wehking Kanning. On March 12, 1949 she married Virgil D. Knudson at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Lancaster. Eileen worked for Berry Hatchery, the Pillsbury Company and then after her marriage she helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Everest, Kansas, Hiawatha Elks Lodge, Abdallah Shrine and enjoyed caring for the hogs, mowing and spending time with grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Roger & wife Jeanne Knudson and Gordon & wife Debbie Knudson all of Everest, Kansas; brother, Edward Kanning of Lancaster, Kansas; five grandchildren, Stephanie Knudson, Justin Knudson, Casey & wife Tiffany Knudson, Corey Knudson and Colby Knudson; six great grandchildren, Mariah Graf, Naviegh Graf, MaKennzi Knudson, Channdler Knudson, Kynnedi Knudson and Rheygenn Knudson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil on February 5, 1999 and a sister Laverne Dockweiler. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
