Obituary

Eileen Hedwig Siebenmorgen, 85, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Maple Heights Nursing Center in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was born on March 1, 1928 in Baker, Kansas the daughter of Louie and Alma Wasserfallen Siebenmorgen. Eileen went blind at the age of fourteen but continued to be independent living on the farm near Baker by herself. She worked for the Kansas Industries of the Blind for thirty one years making NBA basketball nets. Eileen was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. Survivors include a brother Louis Siebenmorgen of Hiawatha, Kansas. Surviving nieces and nephews from her brother, Louis include, Terry (Jolynn) Siebenmorgen, Brad (Peg) Siebenmorgen, Rick Siebenmorgen and Tim Siebenmorgen all of Hiawatha, Kansas, Louis (Jan) Siebenmorgen Jr. of Robinson, Kansas, Debbie Roland of Hoyt, Kansas and Kimberly Siebenmorgen of Wichita, Kansas. Surviving nieces and nephews from her brother, Alvin Siebenmorgen include, Alvin "Buzz" (Candace) Siebenmorgen of Hiawatha, Kansas, Bernard (Regine) Siebenmorgen of Lafayette, California, Louise (Doug) Vaske and Mary (Jack) Schultz all of Fort Collins, Colorado, Sara (Pete) Martinson of Federal Way, Washington, Rose (Bill) Pardee of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Surviving nieces and nephews from her brother Vernon include, Tony Siebenmorgen and Shari Preston of Washington and Norman Horn of Arizona. Numerous other great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Vernon. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Mercier, Kansas.
