Evelyn Elaine Cackler, 86, of Horton, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Maple Heights Nursing and Rehab Center in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was born on February 20, 1925 in Havelock, Nebraska the daughter of Edwin and Dorothy Varga Drewel. Evelyn graduated from Alvo, Nebraska High School in 1941. Evelyn was a homemaker, member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, Willis Gardenettes, Claytonville Club, Arbor Knoll Friendship Club, Horton History and Literature Club and the Gideon Auxiliary. On January 17, 1944 she married Walter B. Cackler in Hiawatha, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2007. Survivors include a daughter, Evonne and husband Noland Chism of Horton, Kansas; two sons, James and wife Vickie Cackler of Tonganoxie, Kansas and Donald and wife Lori Cackler of Lawrence, Kansas; a sister Shirley Folsom of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Cackler and a son, Russell Cackler, sister, Phyllis Clupny and a brother, Eldon Drewel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the Wheatland Cemetery Southwest of Horton, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
