Obituary

Frances "Ellen" Kemp, 101, of Horton, Kansas formerly of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas. She was born on March 24, 1910 in Muscotah, Kansas the daughter of Robert and Josephine Hill Wills. Ellen worked at the Horton Garment Factory for many years. On December 24, 1929 she married Charles E. Kemp in Effingham, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1993. She was a member of the Muscotah United Church, Women's Fellowship of the Muscotah United Church, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary both of Atchison, Kansas. Ellen is survived by two sons, James (Erma) Kemp of Cowiche, Washington and William (Jan) Kemp of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Delila Keen and two brothers, Robert and Dale Wills. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
