Gary Bruce Lanter, 57, of Everest, Kansas, went to be with Taylor on her birthday in Heaven on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on April 9, 1952 in Horton, Kansas the son of Donald & Helen Lewis Lanter. After college, Gary farmed with his dad and brother Larry from 1973 to 1985 he then went to work in the trucking industry for a number of years where he most recently worked for BS Xpress in St. Joseph, Missouri. On January 6, 1973 he married Cheryl Niemann in Nortonville, Kansas. They were later divorced. Growing up Gary attended the First Christian Church in Everest, Kansas and after his marriage he attended the Trinity Lutheran Church in Atchison, Kansas. Survivors include three daughters, Bridget & husband Pat Streeter of Everest, Kansas, Michele & husband Tony Kimmi of Everest, Kansas and Lindsey & husband Mitchell Bowen of Leavenworth, Kansas; son, Ryan & wife Jeni Lanter of Everest, Kansas; his parents, Donald & Helen Lanter of Everest, Kansas; brother, Larry & wife Debbie Lanter of Everest, Kansas and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taylor Kimmi. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
