Halvor C. "Pete" Pederson, 72, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on March 12, 2010 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on January 12, 1938, the son of Oscar Norman and Margaret Katherine Jacobson Pederson at the family homestead in Brown County. Pete was a graduate of Powhattan High School and served 4 years in the United States Navy Airborne division. On April 10, 1959 he married Norma Wilson in Horton, Kansas. Pete trained as a carpenter in Woodburn, Oregon and joined the Carpenters Union and retired from TWA carpentry and plating shops after 27 years. He was an active member of the TWA Machinists Union. Pete and Norma also renovated several homes and farmsteads through the years, where they raised livestock and crops. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzles, playing cards and games. Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home; daughter, Tracy and husband Rick Porter of Smithville, Missouri; sons, Terry and wife Niki Pederson of Lawrence, Kansas and Tony and wife Amy Pederson of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley and husband Clair Krebs of Powhattan, Kansas and June and husband Larry Woodruff of Horton, Kansas; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Pederson. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Brush Creek Cemetery, southeast of Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
