Obituary

Harold Brown, 85, of Horton, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1928 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma the son of Thomas and Bertha Carter Brown. Harold served in the U.S. Marines and then was an airborne trooper with the U.S. Army. He worked as a carpenter and automobile mechanic for years before retiring. He was a member of the Sac-N-Fox Tribe of Oklahoma. Harold was quite an artist and enjoyed making native crafts. In March of 1950 he married Betty Cadue. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2011. Survivors include a son, Ronald Brown of Horton, Kansas; four daughters, Tina Blackburn of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Linda Bontrager, Wanda Wolf and Bertha Brown all of Horton, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Mitchell Cemetery in Mayetta, Kansas. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
