Harold F. Wilburn, 84, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on June 17, 1929 in Atchison, Kansas the son of John and Mary Koester Wilburn. Harold worked in the construction field for F.P. Gehring for 40 years before retiring. On August 13, 1987 he married Catherine Lee Schecher in Hiawatha, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Wilburn of the home. His children, Mary Rose (Tony) Tucker of Denison, Kansas, Phyllis Chapman of Effingham, Kansas, Kelly Feagin of Pilot Point, Texas, Mindie (Mike) Foster of Hiawatha, Kansas and Michael (Brandy) Wilburn, Everest, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; step daughters, Patti (David) Lehew, Phoenix, Arizona and Margo (Alan) Ellerman of Effingham, Kansas; four step grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Cummings of Lancaster, Kansas and Joan Seitz of Atchison, Kansas; brothers, Art Wilburn of Easton, Kansas and Frank Wilburn of Gladstone, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Earl E. and Harold "Bubba" Wilburn, grandchildren, Trina Gerber, Clyde Gerber and Heather Trainer, six brothers, Bernard, Leo, Elmer, John, Earl J. and Walt Wilburn, four sisters, Marie Smith, Lois Artibee, Shirley Sowers and Carol Sowers. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A rosary will be recited on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the rosary until 6:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Sunset Memory Gardens in Atchison, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
