Obituary

Irene Cashman, 75, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at her home on the Kickapoo Reservation. She was born on September 8, 1934 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Leonard & Minnie Masqua Castro. Irene worked as a Certified Medicine Aide at the Brewster Place in Topeka, Kansas for many years. She was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe. In 1959 she married John Cashman in Holton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2006. Survivors include two sons, Alton Cashman and Bruce Cashman both of Topeka, Kansas; two daughters, Amy Cashman of Topeka, Kansas and Rose O'Neil of Horton, Kansas; two brothers, Tom Castro of Sacramento, California and Bernard Castro of Washington; four sisters, Rose Pena and Winona Arnold of Sacramento, California, Cynthia Buzzard of Jay, Oklahoma and Victoria Castro of Topeka, Kansas; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dilly Masqua and Stanley Castro. Graveside services will be at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Kennekuk Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. A lunch will be served at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation following the graveside service
