James "Jim" Edward Brown, 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri shortly after his arrival. Jim was born on December 4, 1953 in Horton, Kansas the son of William & Lucille Small Brown. Jim graduated from A.C.C.H.S. in Effingham in 1971 and then from Vo-Tech in Atchison, Kansas in 1973. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving for four years during the Vietnam Era on the U.S.S. Inschon Helicopter Carrier. After his honorable discharge from the service Jim worked as a printer for serveral printing shops in the Kansas City area. Jim was a member of the Muscotah United Church and loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. On July 14, 1984 he married Virginia Powell Fisher in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his parents, Bill & Lucille Brown of Muscotah, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Brown of Kansas City, Kansas; step son, Eddie Fisher of Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Rick & wife Sandi Brown and Mike & wife Tammy Brown all of Cummings, Kansas; sister, Tina and husband Tom Wolff of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandchildren, Billy and Alexandra and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Military Graveside rites and burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Jim Brown memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
