Janice Sue Goodin, 72, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Amberwell Hospital in Atchison, Kansas. She was born on January 15, 1949 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Wayne and Velma Petitt Church Sr.  Janice worked as a correctional officer for the Lansing Department of Corrections before retiring. She then worked as a dispatcher for the Atchison County Police Department, Golden Eagle Casino as a security dispatcher and most recently was the manager for the Horton Thrift Shop. In 1969 she married Bernard Patterson they had two children, Diana and Andy. They later were divorced. She then married Gary E. Goodin on December 6, 1992 at the Muscotah United Church. Janice was a member of the Muscotah United Church, loved baking pies, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family.  Survivors include her husband, Gary Goodin of the home, Muscotah, Kansas; mother, Velma Petitt Church of Winchester, Kansas; son, Andy (Taarna) Patterson of Mayetta, Kansas; daughter, Diana (Kevin) Shinn of Uniontown, Kansas; two step daughters, AJ Spedding of Pennsylvania and Cindy Gaer of Kansas City, Kansas; brother, David (Sharon) Church of Valley Falls, Kansas; sister, JoAnn (Steve) Adams of Oskaloosa, Kansas; six grandchildren, Nicholas Patterson, Gwendolyn Patterson, Jessica (Ronnie) Wikle, Emily Shinn (Austin Jefferis), Holly (Dylan) Richwine and Lauren Shinn; three step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, Fred Church and Wayne Church Jr. and a step daughter, Brenda Goodin. Janice's wishes were to have no public visitation or services.
