Jesse Allen Kezena, 57, of Horton, Kansas passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 at his home on the Kickapoo Reservation. He was born on March 28, 1953 in Greenwood, South Dakota the son of Fred and Alice Gullickson Kezena Sr. Jesse worked for several carpenters prior to going to work for the Golden Eagle, Sac-N-Fox and Prairie Band Casinos. He was a member of the Yankton-Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. He married Deniece Masqua in 1976 in Wagner, South Dakota. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Tyrone A. Mendez of Mayetta, Kansas; three brothers, William Kezena of Fort Totten, North Dakota, Robert Kezena and Loren Kezena both of Wagner, South Dakota; five sisters, Estelle Red Lighting of Marty, South Dakota, Violet Columbus of Morton, Minnesota, Lillian Weston of Wagner, South Dakota, Eunice Joseph of Wagner, South Dakota and Colleen Lightfoot of Red Rock, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and numerous other grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Harold, Fred, Richard, Edgar and Leonard Kezena and a sister Dorothy Patterson. A Wake Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Kickapoo Community Building with burial to follow at the Kennekuk Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.
