Joan B. (Jody) Willis Streeter, 85 of Horton, KS passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton. She was born December 10, 1928 in Willis, KS, the daughter of Homer and Katherine Guier Willis.
Jody graduated from Willis High School in 1946 and married R.C. Streeter on October 4, 1947 in Willis, KS. She lived her entire life in Brown County and worked at the Horton Hospital prior to her marriage. Mrs. Streeter was a homemaker and was employed as a cook for USD 430 for 16 years. She was a member of the Everest Christian Church and Christian Women Fellowship (CWF), Horton History and Literature Club and was a member of the Everest Library Board.
Survivors include her daughters Sara (Dan) Knudson, Horton and Nancy Streeter (Ray Smith), Topeka, and sons Rick, Casa Grande, AZ, Jim (Gail Lowe), Everest and Tracy (Denise Lowe), Valley Falls. Jody is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister Mary Jane (Janie) Lockwood, Horton and brothers Jack and Jerry Willis both of Mission, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband R.C., brother Jim Willis, and daughter-in-law Sandy (Winchell) Streeter.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, KS where the family will also greet friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, December 23. Burial will follow the service in the Miller Cemetery, Everest, KS. The family has suggested memorials be made in Jody's name to either the Everest Christian Church or Tri-County Manor.
