John F. Trager, 84, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on January 26, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky the son of Bernard and Catherine Hardy Trager. John served in the U.S. Navy and was a Disabled Veteran of WW II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1175 in Atchison, Kansas. John worked as a custodian for the Center School District #58 in Kansas City, Missouri and was also a locksmith. On January 14, 1946 he married Helen Langley in Louisville, Kentucky. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Richard Trager of Horton, Kansas; two daughters, Phyllis Singleton of Osceola, Missouri and Catherine Roberts of Horton, Kansas; two brothers, Bernard Trager of Louisville, Kentucky and Kenneth Trager of Oakdale, Wisconsin; three sisters, Catherine Thonen of Fern Creek, Kentucky, Marjorie Snodgrass of Horton, Kansas and Patricia Scroggins of Clarksville, Indiana; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas on Thursday, January 29, 2009.
