John William Weldon (MAH GAH KE), 52, of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on September 25, 2011 in Atchison, Kansas. He was born on September 16, 1959 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Virgil and Rose Bear Weldon. John attended and graduated from Atchison High School in 1978, Highland Community College and Haskell Indian College. John has enjoyed a professional career as a photographer working for Channel 6 News in Lawrence covering the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas University Jayhawks. John enjoyed bike riding and gardening. He is survived by his mother, Rose Weldon of Atchison, Kansas, his sister and brother-in-law, Donna Heim Paul and Lorin Paul of Aurora, Colorado; nephews and families; Curtis and wife Dawnelle Heim, great nieces, Karli and Kelsi Heim, great nephew Christopher Heim all of Tuscon, Arizona; Eric and wife Alise Heim, great nephews, Deegan and Taber Heim all of Castle Rock, Colorado; great nephews Alexander and Brenden Cody both of Salt Lake City, Utah. John was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Weldon, niece Dr. Heather Heim Cody, a infant brother, D.J. Weldon and a infant sister, Martha Rose Weldon. There will be a family visitation at the Arensburg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas on Thursday evening September 29, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Friends may call anytime on Friday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Kennekuk Church Services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. The funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building with burial to follow at the Kennekuk Cemetery.
