Obituary

Kenneth L. Spielman, 81, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 after a fifteen year battle with Polycethemia Vera (a blood disorder) at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born on December 1, 1932 in Baileyville, Kansas the son of Leo and Clara Kramer Spielman. Kenneth was a farmer and stockman all his life. He also worked as an crop insurance adjuster. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. On November 19, 1955 he married Araline Wichman in Seneca, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Araline Spielman of the home; four sons, Robert (Sandy Gordon) Spielman, Gary (Michele) Spielman, Kevin (Kay) Spielman all of Dalhart, Texas and Kent (Carol) Spielman of Horton, Kansas; brother, Jerry (Sue) Spielman of Seneca, Kansas; three sisters, Jo Ann Spielman of Topeka, Kansas, Janice (Jim) Stueve of Indianapolis, Indiana and Kathy (Lawrence) Kopp of Beattie, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Kendelle, Austin, Ryan, Shelby, Luke, Shara and Shana; five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Delores Koch and four brothers, Larry, Richard, Alan and Gerald in infancy. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas with burial to follow at the St. Leo's Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary where the family will greet friends following the Rosary.
