Obituary

Kirby Lee (Ta Pis Ko Uk) Duncan Sr., 74, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on September 5, 1936 in Horton, Kansas the son of LeRoy and Minerva Mason Duncan. Kirby was a foreman for General Motors in Kansas City, Kansas for over 36 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Green Beret and Para-Trooper. Survivors include six daughters, Dawn Duncan of Emporia, Kansas, Annette Duncan Rodriguez of Columbus, Ohio, Marie Damian of Kansas City, Kansas, Julie Calderon of Kansas City, Kansas, Andrea Estrada of Kansas City, Kansas and Frances Damian of Kansas City, Kansas; five sons, Kirby Duncan Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Anthony Chacon of Kansas City, Kansas, Bobby Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri, Thomas Cisneros of Kansas City, Missouri and Frankie Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Rhoda Cadue of Horton, Kansas and Saddie Wapose of Horton, Kansas; three brothers, Vincent Duncan of Tama, Iowa, Preston Duncan of Tama, Iowa and Eldon Joy of Tama, Iowa and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald George Spoone, four sisters, Winifred Dooley, Vera Rose Duncan, Linda Meltingtallow and Sandra Cedeno. Kennekuk Church Services will be at 5:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be on Monday morning at the Kennekuk Cemetery.
