LaVern Anna Sechler, 94, of Willis, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1918 in Bassano Alberta, Canada the daughter of John Franklin and Anna Marie Johannes Heastan. LaVern grew up in the Leona area and graduated from Leona High School. She was a member of the Willis Christian Church. LaVern worked for Wilde Tool Factory for ten years. She then went to work as the cook for the Willis Schools and during the summers she cooked for the Mission Lake Christian Church Camp. She is survived by a daughter, Marlyn (Richard) Olberding of Nortonville, Kansas; four sons, Albert (Nancy) Sechler of Baker, Kansas, Howard (Karen) Sechler of Everest, Kansas, Kenneth Sechler of Topeka, Kansas and Bill Sechler of Hiawatha, Kansas; son-in-law, Larry Myer of Duncanville, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Anna Marie Myer, five brothers, Walter, Lawrence, Frank, John Wesley and Woodrow Heastan and a sister, Marie Randall. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Claytonville Cemetery Northeast of Horton, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Mission Lake Christian Camp or the Willis Christian Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
