Leland "Pa-Paw" Winsea, 70, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on November 2, 2010 at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on January 15, 1940 in Horton, Kansas the son of Robert & Lenora Wahwahsuck Winsea. Leland worked as a service technician for a security systems company. He was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. On August 2, 1958 he married Joan Bent in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1979. Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Warner of Horton, Kansas, Christine Pewamo of Horton, Kansas, Lisa Winsea of Valley Falls, Kansas and Sabrina Winsea of Horton, Kansas; five sons, Michael Winsea of Horton, Kansas, Leland Winsea Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Winsea of Reserve, Kansas, Leslie Winsea of Kansas City, Missouri and Joseph Winsea of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Katherine Cadman of Ship Rock, New Mexico, Myrtle Decorah of Wichita, Kansas and Marcella Winsea of McCloud, Oklahoma; two brothers, Homer Winsea of Springfield, Missouri and Walter Winsea of McCloud, Oklahoma; twenty grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carol Burgess, grandson, Brody Winsea and two brothers, Henry and Luther Winsea. Kennekuk Church services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation.
