Lucile Hossfeld, 88, of Powhattan, Kansas passed away on January 10, 2011 at the Atchison Medical Lodge in Atchison, Kansas. She was born on August 13, 1922 in Troy, Kansas the daughter of Clyde and Barbara Blunt Scott. Lucile graduated from Powhattan High School in 1939. On November 2, 1939 she married Ralph Hossfeld in Powhattan, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1986. Lucile was a homemaker, a waitress at the Powhattan Cafe and was a seamstress at the Horton Garment Factory. She was a member of the Powhattan Lutheran Church, thirty three year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Powhattan, Kansas and loved playing bingo. Lucile was also preceded in death by three sons, Gerald, John and Ricky Hossfeld, a daughter Barbara Blunt and son in law, Carl Blunt, three brothers, Marshall, Victor and Joe Scott and two sisters, Frieda Scott and Helen Thornton. She is survived by fifteen grandchildren, Jerry (Karen) Blunt, Atchison, KS, Kim (David) Hartman, De Kalb, MO, Lori (Mike) Hanson, Lawrence, KS, Jay (Tina) Hossfeld, Grove City, OH, Gary Hossfeld, Kennesaw, GA, Greg (Danielle) Hossfeld, Grove City, OH, Grant (Robin) Hossfeld, Asheville, OH, Gavin Hossfeld, Columbus, OH, Geoff Hossfeld, Columbus, OH, Jessica (Dustion) McGee, Columbus, OH, Scott (Torrie) Hossfeld, Parker, CO, Todd (Cassie) Hossfeld, Littleton, CO, Travis (Kendra) Hossfeld, Parker, CO, Capt. Jake Hossfeld, USMC-San Diego, CA, Staci (Chris) Durr, Scarborough, ME, forty great grandchildren and three daughters-in-law, Vicky Hossfeld, Columbus, OH, Jean Hossfeld, Aurora, CO and Sharon Hossfeld, Lenexa, KS. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Powhattan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Powhattan American Legion Auxilary and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
