Obituary

Lucille Mae Hobbs, 83, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1925 in rural Willis, Kansas, the daughter of Charles & Clara Twitchell Earp. Lucille was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for the Horton Garment Factory for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon, Christian Women's Fellowship and the Horton Garden Club. She also enjoyed going with Jesse to the horseshoe pitching tournaments, never missing a one. On November 28, 1944 she married Jesse Hobbs in Hiawatha, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Shirley Owens of Topeka, Kansas and Debra Lowe of Wichita, Kansas; two sons, Floyd Hobbs of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Charles Hobbs of Lecompton, Kansas; one sister, Maxine Thurn of St. Joseph, Missouri; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lester Earp and a sister, Betty Lacy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Rosehill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.
