Margaret Elizabeth Young, 102, of Everest, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at a Ottawa Retirement Center. She was born on January 2, 1911 near Hiawatha, Kansas the daughter of Daniel and Nellie Miller Schober. She attended White Hall country school and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1928. She married Herbert A. Young on March 28, 1937 in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived near Powhattan for 3 years, then moved to Everest in 1940. Margaret and Herbert observed their 50th anniversary in 1987. Herbert preceded her in death on May 22, 1990. Margaret was a member of the Everest Christian Church, C.W.F of the church and enjoyed Senior Citizens meetings in Everest. She lived in her home on main street for 67 years. Survivors include a son, Marvin (Donna) Young of Quenemo, Kansas; two step grandchildren, Gary Childs of Houston, Texas and Vicki Donley of Houston, Arkansas and a step great granddaughter, Lindsey Rader of Topeka, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Edith Young. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the Everest Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
