Marjorie Lucille Lanter, 81, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Village Villa in Nortonville, Kansas. She was born on October 5, 1935 in Fort Collins, Colorado, the daughter of Cecil and Maude Brown Harden. Marjorie graduated from A.C.C.H.S in Effingham, Kansas. After marriage she lived in rural Huron, Kansas, then she lived in Horton, KS, Phoenix, AZ, Old Huron, KS, Cummings, KS, Effingham, KS; then residing at the Arbor Knoll Apts., Horton, Kansas for many years before moving to Village Villa, Nortonville, Kansas. Marjorie was a homemaker, a member of the Everest Christian Church, Everest Christian Women's Fellowship, Old Huron Cemetery Club, Cummings Christian Church, Mary Martha Circle, Effingham and the Horton Christian Church. Marjorie was a very loving, dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, participating in various church activities and devoting her time to her family. On April 8, 1956 she married Roy V. Lanter in Huron, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1960. Survivors include a son, David (Darla) Lanter of Effingham, Kansas, 3 grandchildren, Jeremy (Crystal) Lanter, Wendy (Chad) Hinterweger and Wesley (Lori) Lanter; seven great grandchildren, Cale Lanter, Avery Gilliland, Maisie Gilliland, Ashlyn Hinterweger, Brooklyn Hinterweger, Emma Lanter and Austin Lanter; sister-in-law's, Helen Harden, Ruth Smith and brother-in-law, Richard (Donna) Lanter. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Daniel Lanter, 3 brothers, Victor Harden, Bill Harden and Keith Harden. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 9:30 until service time. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Everest Christian Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
