Marlene Elizabeth Sheets, 75, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Wednesday July 17, 2013 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kan. Marlene was born September 1, 1937 in Horton, Kan. the daughter of Laurence and Bernice Gormley Kletchka. She was united in marriage to Dale D. Sheets on May 12, 1956 in Horton, Kan. They were married 57 blissful years. Marlene served the hospital industry for over 45 years. She was motivated by her career and respected by all who worked with her. Among her accomplishments, she received her RHIT designation and was President of the Kansas Medical Records Association. Marlene was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton and Most Pure Heart of Mary in Topeka. She lived a full life, complete with laughter and sorrow. Although we will miss her physical presence in our lives, let us not just grieve, but also celebrate her life as it was fully lived. Let us share our memories, as her Spirit continues to live in all of us. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Eugene Kletchka and sister, Mary Evelyn Kletchka. Marlene is survived by her spouse, Dale D. Sheets, their children and spouses, Elizabeth and Rex Lane of Atchison, Kansas, Rose Marie and Louis Citro of Houston, Texas and Diana L. Sheets of Platte City, Missouri; stepmother, Opal Kletchka of Horton, Kansas; sister and spouse, Beverly and Deryl of Berryton, Kansas and three grandchildren, Laura E. Lane, Catherine A. Lane and Joshua P. Fulton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 1340 1st Avenue East, Horton, Kansas. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the Rosary. Burial will be at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
