Obituary

Martha Irene Roberts, 81 of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas. She was born on July 14, 1932 in Muscotah, Kansas the daughter of Henry and Helen Ingram Braden. Martha worked for the Egg Plant in Everest, for Askern's Grocery, Lehman's Apple Orchard and then went on to work for Wilde Toole Company in Hiawatha for over 20 years. On June 6, 1953 she married Robert Monson in Hiawatha, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1979. She then married Clair Roberts in April of 1980 in Horton, Kansas. He also preceded her in death in August 4, 2002. Martha was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Horton, Kansas and attended the United Methodist Church in Hiawatha, Kansas. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Bruce) Bechtold of rural Horton, Kansas; two sisters, Betty Gardner of Sabetha, Kansas and Reba Shaffer of rural Horton, Kansas; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Susan Smith, two brothers, Richard Braden and Charles Braden and a sister, Georgia Braden. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the mortuary. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
