Mary Frances "No Kiimissee Qua" (Whitewater) Castro, 79, of the Kickapoo Reservation, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at her home on the Kickapoo Reservation surrounded by her family. She was born on January 4, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Arthur and Annie Raye Vaughn Whitewater. She was a homemaker and lived on the Kickapoo Reservation most of her life. She loved fishing, mushroom hunting, playing bingo and going to the casino. A lot of people knew her as the "Burrito Lady" as she made burritos and sold them to help her family. She also enjoyed playing the scat card game at the Kickapoo Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children, daughters, Bobbie Ann Whitewater (Rudy Keo) of the Kickapoo Reservation, Toney Robles of the Kickapoo Reservation, sons, Demeico Castro Jr. of Horton, Kansas, Anthony Castro of the Kickapoo Reservation, David Castro (Susie Castro) of the Kickapoo Reservation and Jason Whitewater Shopteese (Johanna) of the Kickapoo Reservation, thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Staffos and Katherine Embley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Demeico "Mitchell" Castro Sr., three brothers, Gene Reynolds, Ivan "Bobby" Whitewater, Jerry Whitewater and a granddaughter, Ellen Keo. Mary was laid to rest at the Kennekuk Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, October 4, 2021. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
