Mary Agnes Maxwell, 77, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at her home. She was born on September 11, 1942 in West Union, West Virginia. Mary's mother passed away at the age of twenty years old. Mary was only seventeen days old. Her grandparent's Isaac and Minnie Barr raised her. Mary attended West Union Elementary and Doddridge High School. On October 18, 1958 she married Stanley Maxwell in West Union, West Virginia. Mary worked at the Castle Nursing Home in Ohio and then after moving to Kansas in 1982, she worked for Pleasant View Nursing Home. Mary loved horses, fishing, bowling and especially spending time with her family and friends. Mary and Stanley loved music and they sang for churches, reunions and festivals. Survivors include four sons, Stan (Margie) Maxwell of Killbuck, Ohio, Kenneth (Sherri) Maxwell of Killbuck, Ohio, William (Darlene) Maxwell of Reserve, Kansas and Edward (Betty Jo) Maxwell of Horton, Kansas; nineteen grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley, a son, Michael Maxwell and three grandchildren, Adam, Andrew and Austin Maxwell. A private burial will be held at the Horton City Cemetery.
