Max Edward Groshong, 68, of Horton, Kansas, passed away July 5, 2008 in Horton, Kansas. He was born on September 16, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of George Edward and Ora Blanch Crigger Groshong. Max served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. On August 31, 1961 he married Nancy Darlene Polson in Wichita, Kansas. Max owned and operated Olathe Tow Service for over 25 years. He and Nancy then moved back to Horton and opened the Groshong Steak House which they operated for several years. Max then went back on the road as an independent truck driver for the past 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Groshong of the home; mother, Ora Groshong of Horton, Kansas; son, Gene Edward Groshong of Horton, Kansas; daughter, Tracy Darlene Bartley of Overland Park, Kansas; brother, Donnel Groshong of Horton, Kansas; four sisters, Golda Houchins of Topeka, Kansas, Roxie Sharp of Leonardville, Kansas, Norma Lueske and Jerry McNeil both of Horton, Kansas; five grandchildren, Corin Bartley, Joshua Groshong, Danny Groshong, Sara Hoover and C'awna Ford. He was preceded in death by his father, George Groshong, son, Robert Dale Groshong and a brother, Danny Groshong. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the First Baptist in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Muscotah Cemetery.
