Obituary

Michael Lee Wenger, 61, of Whiting, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Sabetha Manor. He was born on October 18, 1950 in Horton, Kansas the son of Marvin Lee and Barbara Ann Jones Wenger. Mike graduated from Whiting High School in 1968 and then attended Atchison Vo-Tech for two years. He worked at Rockwell International before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. After the war he returned to the farm where he farmed and managed the family Dairy. He also received the Bankers Award for Soil Conservation. Survivors include two sons, Kelly Wenger and Chris Wenger both of Whiting, Kansas; a sister, Diana Brey of Holton, Kansas; two brothers, Bob Wenger of Topeka, Kansas and Bill Wenger of Goddard, Kansas; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
