Nancy Ann Goins, 73, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on September 27, 1939 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Walter "Skinny" and Elsie Patton Baker. Nancy worked as a nurse's aide for Dr. Converse and Dr. Young prior to going to work for the Horton Student Loan department. She then worked for Dr. Jean Dunn at the Hiawatha dentist office for several years. Nancy later worked for Dr. Farr in Horton. She then became a clerk for the Brown County Treasurer's office for many years. Nancy was a member of the United Methodist Church where she taught the Sunday school nursery class for over 40 years. Nancy attended the Vista de la Montana Methodist Church in Catalina, AZ and was an active volunteer in the Catalina church. She was a member of the ESA Sorority, Horton Hospital Auxilary and and was an active volunteer in the Horton community, always willing to help out. She was an excellent cook, famous for her cinnamon rolls and her top priority was providing a loving and supportive home for her family. On September 2, 1956 she married Bill Goins at the Horton United Methodist Church. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Todd (Toni) Goins of Auburn, Washington and Bruce (Stacey) Goins of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Karen Christofferson of Crosslake, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Michaela, Abbey, Peyton and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Rolland Goins Jr. and Ron Goins, two brothers, Jack and Dale Baker and a sister, Patti Baker. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Horton United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
