Raymond C. Olson, 76, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. He was born on November 30, 1933 in Horton, Kansas the son of Carl and Mildred Ross Olson. Ray graduated from Horton High School in 1951 and Highland Community College in 1955. After graduation he returned to help his dad on the family farm. On September 1, 1957 he married Patricia R. Peters in Severance, Kansas. Ray was member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, Kansas where he served on several boards. He also served on the Tri-County Manor Board, Brown County Extension Board, Rural Water Board, was a 4-H Leader for 15 years and a member of Our Gang. Survivors include his wife, Pat Olson of the home; two sons, David and wife Janet Olson of rural Hiawatha, Kansas and Todd and wife Connie Olson of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jeremy Olson, Taylor Olson, Derec Olson and Carley Olson; a sister, Shirley Brunner of Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard and a granddaughter, Erica Olson. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest, Kansas with burial in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
