Richard B. Monson, 63, of Plano, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Medical Center of Plano. He was born on August 4, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of John and Mary Louise Andrews Monson. Rick was an accountant for Schlachter Operating. He was a member of the Kansas Society of CPA's. Rick was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. On June 1, 1968 he married Carol Sue Geiger at the Everest First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Carol Sue Monson of the home, Plano, Texas; a daughter, Kristin (Mike) Carroll of Cypress, Texas; son, Jeff (Adrienne) Monson of The Colony, Texas; brother, Mike Monson of Everest, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jon Monson, Kaitlin Carroll and Harlea Monson. Rick was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery east of Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
