Robin D. Smith, 55, of rural Everest, Kansas, passed away on June 19, 2012 shortly after arrival at the Atchison Hospital due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on July 15, 1956 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of Robert and Edith Martin Smith. Robin graduated from Atchison High School in 1974 and then attended Vo-Tech. He worked for Rockwell International for a few years prior to going back to a Technical College. After graduation he went to work for Texas Instruments for twenty six years. Robin then went back to school for automobile and auto body repair. After working in the automobile field for a few years he returned to Kansas where he most recently worked in the surveillance department at the Golden Eagle Casino. On August 30, 1985 he married Phyllis Olguin, they later were divorced. Robin was a member of the Atchison First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was very active in the Boy Scouts where he earned his Eagle Scout and was in the Tribe of Mic-o-Say. He was also a staff leader at Camp Geiger. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Edith Smith of rural Everest, Kansas; two sisters, Becky Smith and Amy Smith both of Atchison, Kansas; son, Ryin Smith and a step son, Joey Olguin both of Texas. He was preceded in death by his step daughter, Sandra Olguin. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Atchison First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
