Shirley Ann Platt, 85, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on March 22, 2022 at the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation in Onaga, Kansas. Shirley was born on February 3, 1937 in Mayday, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Wilma (Hollowell) Herrman. On June 14, 1952, she married Claude William "Bill" Platt at Fayetteville Arkansas who preceded her in death on December 9, 1995. They enjoyed 43 years of married life. She was employed at various garment factories before retiring. Shirley greatly enjoyed watching all of her kids and grandchildren in their school and sports activities. She served as a Boy Scout Den Mother and helped at the Horton ball field for many years. Nothing was more important to her than her family and she was a loving wife and mother. Shirley is survived by her children, Terry and Dale Platt both of Horton; four grandchildren Levi, Bryce, Samantha, and Jagger; three great-grandchildren Jeran, Kimber and Kyndall; three brothers, Richard Herrman of Westmoreland, Glenn Hermann (Bev) of Winchester and Tony Herrman (Cheryl) of Onaga; four sisters Jeannie Duncan of Manhattan, Diane Poston (Russell Nothdurft) of Columbia South Carolina, Linda Miller (Frank) of Manhattan, Debra Childress (Donnie) of Hopkins South Carolina and one special "son" Lee Gordon (Cathy and son John) of Horton. Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by her parents; a son, Rocky, a daughter, Margaret, and one sister; Jo Tucker. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Muscotah Cemetery, Muscotah Kansas on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 2:00 P.M.
