Shirley L. Salverson, 83, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1926 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Allen & Edith Stansbarger Schlagle. Shirley graduated from Horton High School in 1944. On December 1, 1946 she married Selmer L. Salverson in Horton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1997. Shirley was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Everest Zion Lutheran Church and the Women of the W.E.L.C.A., Horton Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the HOA Club. She is survived by a daughter, Sue and husband, Dennis Beyer of Hiawatha, Kansas and a son, David and wife Elaine Salverson of Hiawatha, Kansas; five grandchildren, Dana Shirley, Stacie Schroeder, Kristin Heinen, Stefanie Wilson and Marc Beyer; four great grandchildren, Samuel Heinen, Maggie Heinen, Allie Wilson and Quinn Schroeder. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Waters. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
