Thelma M. Hulsey McGee, 95, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Leavenworth and Horton, Kansas, passed away on May 18, 2010 at the Overland Park, Kansas Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 1, 1915 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of John & Gertrude Schuetz Schaefer. Thelma worked as a sales clerk for the A & P Grocery store in Leavenworth, Kansas for over twenty four years and she also did alot of babysitting for many children throughout the years. She was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas, Eagles Lodge in Leavenworth and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed baking, fishing, helping others, quilting and gardening in her spare time. In 1938 she married John Hulsey and they were later divorced. She then later married Elmer McGee in 1981. He preceded her in death in 1986. Survivors include a son Charles & his wife JoAnne Hulsey of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Rose Willis of Horton, Kansas; three brothers, Leo Schaefer of Horton, Kansas, Lloyd Schaefer of Effingham, Kansas and Kenneth Schaefer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Matthew Hulsey and Mark & his wife Nancy Hulsey and three great grandchildren, McKenzie, Danielle and William Hulsey. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mary Kamman, Teresa Richling and Wilma Peregrine, and two brothers, Vernon and Howard Schaefer. A prayer service will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the service. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the Sunset Memory Gardens in Leavenworth, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the St. Leo's Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
