Obituary

Theresa Leonissa Winterscheidt, 91, died of natural causes October 29, 2020 at Edgewood Manor, Raytown, MO following many years of illness. She was buried at Saint Peters Cemetery, Mercier KS. Theresa, twin sister of Sr. Patricia, was born at Horton Hospital to John "Herbert" and Amelia C (Bindel) Winterscheidt in Horton, Kansas on March 26, 1929. She was one of eleven children. After graduating from Mary Help of Christians Academy, North Haledon NJ, in 1947 she joined the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians community from 1949 through 1971. She taught in several elementary schools in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. She continued teaching in Missouri after transitioning to public life until illness incapacitated her. She has since been a patient at Edgewood Manor. Her life is best defined as "one step at a time but always forward." We will always miss you and know that you will be joined by your family as you take your final step forward. She is survived by her sisters Sr. Patricia, FMA, Haledon NJ, Clare Cyphert, Lenexa KS, Cathy Hughey, Cary NC and brother John, Cary NC. She was preceded in death by her Parents; sisters Bernadette Orth, Sr. Mary FMA, and Bertha Sullivan; her brothers Lawrence, Fr Leo SDB, and Francis. Our family thanks the staffs of Edgewood Manor, Raytown MO, and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, Lenexa KS for the love and care given to our dear sister, Theresa. Due to Corona Virus there will be no public service. Final arrangements were made by Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, Horton KS.
